On average, male mosquitoes live 6 – 7 days and feed on plant nectar. Female mosquitoes live up to 5 months and feed on blood of animals and humans.

Mosquito life cycle consists of four stages:

  1. egg
  2. larva
  3. pupa
  4. adult

Now, we’ll talk you through mosquito life cycle and briefly describe each stage of reproduction in mosquitoes.

– Initially, female mosquitoes lay eggs in standing water or in damp soil. The female mosquito legs up to 200 legs. It takes eggs from several days to several months to hatch.

– Mosquito eggs hatch and the larva appears in water sources. It takes the larva at least 5 days to develop.

– At the next stage, larva turns into pupa. It takes pupa 2-3 days to develop.

– As a result, pupa becomes adult mosquitoes.

Mosquitoes reproduce in standing water. The entire life cycle of mosquitoes takes from 8 to 10 days.
